FORWARD COUPLING
1. Connect the Service Monitor to the “From Combiner” port of the ASM coupler using the 50ohm cable, and the 50Ω
termination to the “To Antenna” port of the coupler.
2. Set the Service Monitor signal generator to the correct frequency and modulation type for the channel being measured
and adjust its output level for 0dBm.
3. Enter 40.0 dB into both the Forward Coupling and Reverse Coupling fields on the GUI.
4. Enter 0 dB into the Antenna Feeder field.
5. Click the “Apply” button toward the upper right of the screen.
6. Go to the Status – Tx Port 1 GUI screen and confirm that the displayed value for the channel is correct (i.e. 0dBm).
7. If it is not displaying correctly, return to the Calibration – Tx Port 1 GUI screen and adjust the Forward Coupling value
to correct the reading.
8. Click the “Apply” button toward the upper right of the screen.
9. Repeat steps 6 to 8 until the Status – Tx Port 1 displayed value is correct for the test frequency.
REVERSE COUPLING
1. Do not change the Service Monitor signal generator settings and test cable used.
2. Move the Service Monitor signal generator cable to the “To Antenna” port of the coupler and the 50Ω termination to the
“From Combiner” port of the coupler.
3. Go to the Status – Tx Port 1 GUI screen and confirm that the displayed value for the channel is correct (i.e. 0dBm).
4. If it is not displaying correctly, return to the Calibration – Tx Port 1 GUI screen and adjust the Reverse Coupling value
to correct the reading.
5. Click the “Apply” button toward the upper right of the screen.
6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 until the Status – Tx Port 1 displayed value is correct for the test frequency.
NOTE: Restore the connection of the cabling to/from the coupler for normal operation.
