Getting Started
This chapter summarizes the steps required for configuring the Ultritouch and Ultrix connection.
Before You Begin
Keep the following in mind when managing your Ultrix soft panels for Ultritouch:
• Soft panels require the setup of the database source/destinations/levels and port assignment to be complete on the
Ultrix router that will communicate with Ultritouch.
• If the Ultrix database changes (source/destination/level/salvo addition or deletion), you will need to:
› update the Ultritouch soft panel configuration in the Ultrix database to ensure the correct elements are visible;
› re-load the soft panel to the Ultritouch.
• Soft panels do not support Unicode characters.
Configuration Workflow
Refer to Figure 3.1 for an overview of the steps required before establishing communication between the Ultritouch
and an Ultrix router.

Configure the Ultrix Database
A database defines the matrices, levels, sources, destinations, and soft panel for a particular router setup. A router
may use a number of database configurations depending on its role in the routing system.

Create the Ultritouch Soft Panel in the Ultrix Database
A soft panel is a software implementation of a physical remote control panel (RCP). You can customize an
Ultritouch soft panel by defining the sources, destination, levels, and/or salvos that will be available for use on the
panel interface. A soft panel designed for Ultritouch also enables you to customize the look of the interface when it
is loaded to the Ultritouch panel.
 An Ultritouch soft panel is created using the options in the Ultrix menu system.
