General note
See Fig. 10.
Coolant hoses Carry out visual inspection of all coolant hoses (1) for damage, leaks,
hardening as a result of heat and porosity.
Water pump Inspect all connections on the top and bottom of the cylinder head and on
the water pump (2).
Expansion tank Inspect expansion tank (3) for damage. Inspect protection rubber at the
bottom of the tank for tight fit.
Radiator cap Inspect the gasket of the radiator cap (4) and check the pressure release
valve and return valve for proper operation.
See chap. 12-20-00 section: 9.4).
9.2) Replacing the coolant

Instruction To replace the coolant the following steps are necessary:

Hot engine parts!
Always allow engine to cool down to ambient tempera-
ture before start of any work.

Risk of Burns!
Never open the radiator cap when the cooling system
is hot. For safety’s sake, cover cap with a rag and open
slowly. Sudden opening of the cap could provoke the
escape of boiling coolant and result in scalding.

NOTICE
Use only coolant as recommended in the current Op-
erators Manual.
Step Procedure
1 Open the radiator cap on the expansion tank.
2 Remove the bottom attachment screw (1) (with sealing ring) of water pump
(2).
3 Drain the engine coolant.
NOTES: If the radiator is located below the engine, also detach the
lowest positioned coolant hose.
4 Fit attachment screw (stainless steel) along with a new sealing ring. Tighten
to 10 Nm (90 in.lb).
