Firmware update
Introduction
During operation, it can become necessary to update the firmware (e.g. for function
extensions).
Firmware updates are used to update the firmware of the interface module and I/O modules.
Note
Temporary bus interruption
When you perform a firmware update of an ET
200AL I/O module, then the ET-
Connection is
temporarily interrupted due to the restart of I/O module. All downstream ET
200AL I/O
modules report a pull/plug interrupt.
Options for the firmware update
There are two ways to perform a firmware update:
● Online with STEP 7, V5.5 or higher
● Online with STEP 7, TIA Portal V13 or higher
