Parameter Description Value Range Default Value
Transmission pause
between the messag‐
es related to the
monitoring time
A pause equal to the length of the mon‐
itoring time (for a missing end ID) is in‐
serted between two message frames
when sending so that the partner can
synchronize (detect receipt of the mes‐
sage frame).
• Yes
• No
Yes
(1)
Can only be set if the end criterion is an end-of-text character.
(2)
Depending on whether you set 7 or 8 data bits for the character frame.
(3)
Can only be set if the end criterion is xed message frame length.
Baud Rate / Character Frame
The table below contains descriptions of and species the value ranges of the relevant
parameters.

Start bit During transmission, a start bit is prexed to each character to be
sent.
1 (xed value)
Data bits Number of bits onto which a character is mapped.
• 7

Stop bits During transmission, stop bits are appended to every character to
be sent, indicating the end of the character.
• 1
• 2

Parity A sequence of information bits can be extended to include another
bit, the parity bit. The addition of its value ("0" or "1") brings the
value of all the bits up to a dened status. This improves data in‐
tegrity.
A parity of "none" means that no parity bit is sent.
It is not possible to specify "none" if 7 data bits are set.
