4.5 Preparing for operation
Introduction
After installing the module and making all connections, this stage of the
commissioning process involves carrying out a partial functionality test for
SIWAREX U and all connected modules.
The individual steps of the partial test are to be performed in the following
sequence:
Visual check
Check that all work steps completed to date have been executed correctly -
this includes:
Is the exterior of the SIWAREX U undamaged?
Is the SIWAREX U in the correct installation position?
Are all connecting cables connected and secured properly?
Are all shields laid?
Is the ground bus connected to the ground contact?
Is the profile rail connected to the ground contact?
Are all tools, materials, and parts not belonging to S7 or to
SIWAREX U removed from the modules?
Turning on 24 V
Switch on power supply.
LED checks on
SIWAREX U
After switching the 24V supply voltage on and a short initialization phase
(internal tests), the SIWAREX U goes into operational state.
LED SF (system fault) must be in OFF state.
4.6 Usage in Ex zones

The system may only be set up in the ex zone by observing the commissioning and
safety instructions as per the system manual "SIMATIC explosion protection
principles" A5E00206200.
Below you will find important notes on the installation of SIWAREX U in the ex zone.
SIWAREX U may only be used in accordance with the conditions specified in the
associated certificate.
