Section 2 – General Safety Precautions
WARNING
Failure to obey the instructions and precautions
in this manual could result in MEWP damage,
property damage, personal injury or death.
It is mandatory that you use this MEWP correctly.
Read this manual and make sure you fully understand
it before you operate the MEWP.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect
your eyes, ears, hands, feet, and body when you do
work on or near machinery.
Any modications to the MEWP must have written
permission from Skyjack.
WARNING
Do not operate the MEWP if:
It does not operate correctly.
It is damaged or shows worn or missing
parts.
The safety devices are tampered with or
disabled.
It is locked and tagged for servicing or repair.
It was modied without permission from
Skyjack and the MEWP owner.
If you do not obey, there is a risk of death or
serious injury.
2.1 Electrocution hazards
The MEWP is not electrically insulated and does
not provide protection if it is near or in contact with
energized electrical conductors. Follow Section 2.1-1
for the minimum distance to keep between all parts
of the MEWP, occupants, or tools, and the electrical
conductors. Consider the MEWP movement and
electrical line sway in minimum distance calculation.
If you need to work nearer than 3 m (10 ft), stop and
apply control measures as determined by a qualied
person with respect to electrical transmission and
distribution.
Obey all the national, state/provincial/territorial and
local safety rules.

DANGER
Electrocution hazard. Keep all parts of the MEWP,
occupants, and tools a safe distance away from
power lines, electrical power sources, or energized
sources. If you do not obey, there is a risk of death
or serious injury.
Keep a minimum safe distance
from sources of high-voltage
power.
DO NOT operate the MEWP
during lightning or storms.
CAUTION
DO NOT use the MEWP as a ground for welding.
If you do not obey, there is a risk of minor or
moderate injury, or malfunction or damage to the
MEWP.
