2-8 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
• Reinstall the cleaned or new air cleaner element in the re-
verse order of removal.
• When installing the air cleaner element into the air cleaner
case, make sure that the * mark A points up.

If driving under dusty conditions, clean the air cleaner
element more frequently. The surest way to accelerate
engine wear is to operate the engine without the element
or to use a torn element. Make sure that the air cleaner is
in good condition at all times. Life of the engine depends
largely on this component!
• Remove the drain plug from the air cleaner drain hose to allow
any water to drain out.
