freedom of movement in their entire operating range. Avoid holes
andruts in the taxi surface when taxiing over uneven ground.
Do not operate the engine at high RPM while running up or taxiing
over gravel, loose stones, or any loose material to prevent abrasion
andstonedamagetothepropellerblades.
(h) Ground Check (4.5h)
Set the brake and advance the throttle to 1800 RPM. Move Ignition
switch to L (magneto) Position, note RPM and switch back to BOTH.
Move Ignition switch to R (magneto) position, note RPM and switch
back to BOTH. RPM drop should not exceed 175 RPM on either
magneto and the difference between the magnetos should not exceed
50 RPM. Move the throttle control to the most rear position. Engine
mustberun at 500 - 700 RPM without extremevibrations.
Open the throttle smoothly to full throttle. The engine should
acceleratetomaximumRPMwithoutfaltering.
Set 1800 RPM and switch ON carburetor heat. Its operation makes
itself noticeable through a RPM drop at least of 50 RPM. Turn OFF
carburetorheat. The RPM should adjust itself.
Check engine parameters on VM 1000 display. The oil pressure, the
oil temperature and the fuel pressure must be within the green
ranges.
Since the engine is closely cowled for efficient in-flight engine
cooling,donotoperateitmorethan3minutesatmaximumRPM.
Prolonged engine operations below 1000 RPM may cause spark plug
fouling.
