Setting your Status
The radio may be able to maintain a record of its current status. This status may be sent with outgoing calls pro-
grammed to contain status information. If the radio receiving the call has been programmed with the same status mes-
sages, it will decode and display its status. Thestatus indicates the current activity or location, such as en route or
at lunch”.
To change the current status:
1. Press Menu and select Set status.
2. In the Set status menu, scroll through the list of status messages until the desired message appears.
3. Press Select. The message Status updated appears on the display.
Communicating Directly with Other Radios
You can bypass the radio repeater and communicate directly with another radio using the radio talkaround feature.
This is useful when you are out of range of the repeater, or if the repeater is busy.
While repeater talkaround is active, all calls are made on your current channel’s receive frequency.
Turning repeater talkaround on and off
You can turn repeater talkaround on and off using a function key, if the radio is programmed in this way.
Press the function key to turn repeater talkaroundon.
