Sound Detection
Your vehicle is equipped with sound detection technology
using sensors and microphone. Features that rely on sound
detection only process and store data on the vehicle by
default. This means information cannot be saved or
transmitted unless data sharing is enabled. Tesla does not
capture continuous recordings and does not have live-
listening functionality.
To help Tesla improve your vehicle's safety, intelligence, and
convenience features (such as Approaching Emergency
Vehicle Detection, voice commands, etc.), you can opt-in
and share sound detection data with Tesla. To adjust your
data sharing preferences or delete your sound detection
history at any time, navigate to
Controls > Software > Data
Sharing > Allow Sound Detection Analytics.
Even if you opt-in to sharing this information with Tesla,
sound detection data (recordings up to 60 seconds) are not
associated with your account, vehicle, or VIN.
When a feature using sound detection is active (including
voice commands), an orange indicator appears in the top
status bar.
NOTE: It is your responsibility to confirm the consent of
occupants in the vehicle.
Quality Control
You might notice a few km on the odometer when you take
delivery of your Model Y. This is a result of a comprehensive
testing process that ensures the quality of your Model Y.
The testing process includes extensive inspections during
and after production. The final inspection takes place at Tesla
and includes a road test conducted by a technician.
