IfyouneedtoclosetheThinkPadSetupprogramandrestartthesystem,selectRestartfromtheThinkPad
Setupprogrammainmenu.Thefollowingsubmenuoptionsaredisplayed:
•ExitSavingChanges:Restartthesystemaftersavingthechanges.
•ExitDiscardingChanges:Restartthesystemwithoutsavingthechanges.
•LoadSetupDefaults:Loadthedefaultsettingthatwasineffectatthetimeofpurchase.
EnableOSOptimizedDefaultstomeettheMicrosoftWindows8orWindows8.1certification
requirements.Whenyouchangethissetting,someothersettingsarechangedautomatically.Theaffected
settingsareCSMSupport,UEFI/LegacyBoot,SecureBoot,andSecureRollBackPrevention.
•DiscardChanges:Discardthechanges.
•SaveChanges:Savethechanges.
UpdatingtheUEFIBIOS
TheUEFIBIOSisthefirstprogramthatthecomputerrunswhenthecomputeristurnedon.TheUEFIBIOS
initializesthehardwarecomponents,andloadstheoperatingsystemandotherprograms.
YoucanupdatetheUEFIBIOSbystartingyourcomputerfromaflashupdateopticaldiscoraflashupdate
programrunningintheWindowsenvironment.Whenyouinstallanewprogram,adevicedriver,orhardware,
youmightbeinformedtoupdatetheUEFIBIOS.

PrebooteXecutionEnvironment
ThePrebooteXecutionEnvironment(PXE)technologymakesthecomputermoremanageablebyenabling
thecomputertostartfromaserver.YourcomputersupportsthepersonalcomputerfunctionsthatPXE
requires.Forexample,withtheappropriateLANcard,yourcomputercanbestartedfromthePXEserver.
