Chargingthebattery
Whenyoucheckbatterystatusandfindthatthepercentageofpowerremainingisloworwhenthepower
alarmalertsyouthattheremainingpowerislow,youneedtochargeyourbatteryorreplaceitwitha
chargedbattery.
Ifanacoutletisconvenient,plugtheacpoweradapterintoit,andthenplugitintotheacpowerconnector
ofthecomputer.Thebatterywillbefullychargedinaboutthreetosixhours.Thisisaffectedbythebattery
sizeandthephysicalenvironment.Thebatterystatusindicatorwillletyouknowthatthebatteryischarging,
andwillalsonotifyyouwhenthebatteryisfullycharged.
Note:Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,thecomputerdoesnotstartrechargingthebatteryiftheremaining
powerisgreaterthan95%.
Maximizingthebatterylife
Tomaximizethelifeofthebattery,dothefollowing:
Usethebatteryuntilthechargeiscompletelydepleted.
Rechargethebatterycompletelybeforeusingit.Youcanseewhetherthebatteryisfullychargedfromthe
battery-statusiconintheWindowsnotificationarea.
Alwaysusepower-savingmodes,suchassleepmode,andhibernationmode.
Managingthebatterypower
Toachievethebestbalancebetweenperformanceandpowersaving,adjustyourpowerplansettings.

ForWindows8andWindows8.1:Gotothedesktop.Right-clickthebattery-statusiconintheWindows
notificationareaandclickPowerOptions.ThenclickChangeplansettingsthatisnexttoyourpower
plan.

Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thissectionintroduceseach
modeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofthebatterypower.
Screenblankmode(forWindows7only)
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffthepowertothedisplayandmake
thecomputerenterscreenblankmode,right-clickthebatterygaugeiconintheWindowsnotificationarea
andselectPoweroffdisplay.
Sleepmode
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthentheharddiskdrive,solid-statedrive,orhybrid
driveandthecomputerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestored
withinseconds.
Dependingonthemodel,yourcomputermightsupportthe30DayStandbyfunction.Whenthisfunction
isenabled,thecomputerconsumesevenlesspowerinsleepmodeandtakesonlysecondstoresume
normaloperationwhenyoupressthepowerbutton.Formoreinformationaboutthe30DayStandby
