•Ifyoucannotturnoffyourcomputerbypressingandholdingthepowerswitch,removeallsources
ofpowerfromthecomputerandresetthesystembyinsertingastraightenedpaperclipintothe
emergency-resethole.Tolocatetheemergency-resethole,see“Bottomview”onpage6
.After
thecomputerisoff,restartthecomputerbypressingthepowerbutton.Ifthecomputerdoesnot
turnon,continuewithstep2.
2.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerfromthecomputerandresetthesystemby
insertingastraightenedpaperclipintotheemergency-resethole.Thenholddownthepowerbuttonfor
10seconds.Reattachtheacpoweradapter.Ifthecomputerdoesnotturnbackon,continuewithstep3.
Note:Ifthecomputerstartswithacpowerbutdoesnotstartwhenacpowerisremoved,callthe
CustomerSupportCenterforsupport.
3.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallexternaldevicesthatareattachedtoyourcomputer(keyboard,
mouse,printer,scanner,andsoon).Repeatstep2.Ifstep2isunsuccessful,continuewithstep4.
Note:Thefollowingstepsinvolveremovingstaticsensitivecomponentsfromyourcomputer.Ensure
thatyouareproperlygroundedandremoveallsourcesofpowerattachedtothecomputer.Ifyouare
uncomfortableorunsureaboutremovingcomponents,pleasecalltheCustomerSupportCenterfor
assistance.
4.Whilethecomputerisoff,removeallsourcesofpowerandexternalhardwareandresetthecomputer
byinsertingastraightenedpaperclipintotheemergency-resethole.Thenremoveanynon-original
memorymoduleaddedtoyourcomputer.Refertotheprocedurein“Replacingamemorymodule”on
page72onhowtoremoveandreseatthememorymodules.Afterremovingtheextramemorymodule
andreinstallingtheoriginalmemorymodule,repeatstep2.Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotturnon,
refertoChapter6“Replacingdevices”onpage67
toreseatothercustomer-replaceablecomponents
thatareattachedtoyourcomputer.
Ifthecomputerstilldoesnotstartup,calltheCustomerSupportCenterandaCustomerSupportSpecialist
willassistyou.
Spillsonthekeyboard
Withamobilecomputer,thereareincreasedchancesofspillingliquidsonthekeyboard.Becausemost
liquidsconductelectricity,liquidspilledonthekeyboardcouldcreatenumerousshortcircuits,potentially
causingirreparabledamagetoyourcomputer.
Ifyouspillsomethingonyourcomputer:
Attention:Ensurethatnoliquidcreatesashortcircuitbetweenyouandtheacpoweradapter(ifinuse).
Althoughyoumightlosesomedataorworkbyturningoffthecomputerimmediately,leavingthecomputer
onmightmakeyourcomputerunusable.
1.Carefullyunplugtheacpoweradapterimmediately.
2.Turnoffthecomputerimmediately.Themorequicklyyoustopthecurrentfrompassingthroughthe
computerthemorelikelyyouwillreducedamagefromshortcircuits.
3.Waituntilyouarecertainthatalltheliquidisdrybeforeturningonyourcomputer.
Note:Ifyouwanttoreplaceyourkeyboard,youcanpurchaseanewone.

•Message:0177:BadSVPdata,stopPOSTtask.
Solution:ChecksumofthesupervisorpasswordintheEEPROMisnotcorrect.
