Problem:Thescreenpositionontheexternalmonitorisincorrectwhenthatmonitorissetforahigh
resolution.
Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolutionsuchas1600x1200,theimageisshiftedtoleftor
rightonthescreen.Tocorrectthis,firstensurethatyourexternalmonitorsupportsthedisplaymode
(theresolutionandtherefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthemonitor
supports.Ifitdoessupportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthemonitoritself
andadjustthesettingsthere.Usuallytheexternalmonitorhasbuttonsforaccesstothesetupmenu.For
details,seethedocumentationthatcomeswiththemonitor.
Audioproblems
Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplaycorrectly.
Solution:Ensurethatthebuilt-inaudiodeviceisconfiguredcorrectly.
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconfirmation.
4.Double-clickSound,videoandgamecontrollers.
5.Ensurethatthefollowingdeviceisenabledandconfiguredcorrectly:
RealtekHighDefinitionAudio
Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.
Solution:EnsurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickSound.
4.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
5.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.
6.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.
7.ClickOK.

Problem:Avolumeorbalanceslidercannotbemoved.
Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisfixedbythehardwareand
cannotbechanged.
Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioapplicationsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheapplicationhasslidersavailable
tocontrolthesoundfromwithintheapplication.
Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
Problem:ThereisnovolumecontrolforMIDIsoundintheVolumeMixerwindow.
