Someofthedatastoredontheharddiskdrive,solid-statedrive,orhybriddrivemightbesensitive.Handing
yourcomputerovertosomeoneelsewithoutdeletingtheloadedsoftware,suchasoperatingsystemsand
applicationsoftware,mightevenviolatelicenseagreements.Besuretodeletedatastoredontheharddisk
drive,solid-statedrive,orhybriddrivebeforeyoudisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.
Youcanusethefollowingmethodstodeletedatafromtheharddiskdrive,solid-statedrive,orhybriddrive:
•MovethedatatotheRecycleBin,andthenemptytheRecycleBin.
•Deletethedata.
•Formatyourharddiskdrive,solid-statedrive,orhybriddrive,usingthesoftwareforinitializingit.
•UsetherecoveryprogramprovidedbyLenovotobringtheharddiskdrive,solid-statedrive,orhybrid
drivebacktothefactorydefaultsettings.
Theseoperations,however,onlychangethefilelocationofthedata;theydonotdeletethedataitself.In
otherwords,thedataretrievalprocessingisdisabledunderanoperatingsystemsuchasWindows.The
dataisstillthere,eventhoughitseemstobelost.Thus,itissometimespossibletoreadthedatabyuseof
specialsoftwarefordatarecovery.Thereisariskthatpeopleofbadfaithmightreadandmisusethecritical
dataonharddiskdrivesorsolid-statedrivesforunexpectedpurposes.
Topreventleakageofdata,itisimportantthatyoudeleteallthedatafromtheharddiskdriveorhybriddrive
whenyoudisposeof,sell,orhandoveryourcomputer.Youcandestroythedataphysicallybysmashingthe
harddiskdriveorhybriddrivewithahammer,ormagneticallybymeansofstrongmagneticpower,thus
makingthedataunreadable.Butitisrecommendedthatyouusethesoftware(payware)orservice(pay
service)developedforthatpurpose.Theprocessmighttakeseveralhours.

CryptographicKeyandErasingtheSolidStateDrivetool.Fordisposingofdataontheharddiskdrive,Lenovo

IfanEncryptionsolid-statedrive,aDiskEncryptionharddiskdrive,oraDiskEncryptionhybriddriveis
supportedandinstalledinyourcomputer,youcanlogicallydisposeofallthedataonthedriveinashort
timebyerasingthecryptographickey.Thedataencryptedwiththeoldkeyisnotphysicallyerasedbut
remainsonthedrive;however,itcannotbedecryptedwithouttheoldkey.Thisfeatureisalsoavailablewith
theDriveEraseUtilityforResettingtheCryptographicKeyandErasingtheSolidStateDrivetool.
Usingfirewalls
Ifyoursystemispreinstalledwithafirewallprogram,itprotectsagainstcomputerInternetsecuritythreats,
unauthorizedaccesses,intrusions,andInternetattacks.Italsoprotectsyourprivacy.

comeswiththeprogram.
Protectingdataagainstviruses
Yourcomputerispreinstalledwithanantivirusprogramsoyoucandetectandeliminateviruses.The
antivirusprogramisdesignedtohelpyoudetectandeliminateviruses.

30days,youmustrenewthelicensetocontinuereceivingtheantivirussoftwareupdates.
