Solution:IfyouusetheExtenddesktopfunction,disableit,andchangethedisplayoutputlocation.Ifa
DVDmovieoravideoclipisplaying,stoptheplayback,closetheapplication,andthenchangethedisplay
outputlocation.
Problem:Thescreenpositionontheexternalmonitorisincorrectwhenthatmonitorissetforahigh
resolution.
Solution:Sometimes,whenyouuseahighresolutionsuchas1600x1200,theimageisshiftedtoleftor
rightonthescreen.Tocorrectthis,rstmakesurethatyourexternalmonitorsupportsthedisplaymode
(theresolutionandtherefreshrate)thatyouhaveset.Ifitdoesnot,setadisplaymodethatthemonitor
supports.Ifitdoessupportthedisplaymodeyouhaveset,gotothesetupmenuforthemonitoritselfand
adjustthesettingsthere.Usuallytheexternalmonitorhasbuttonsforaccesstothesetupmenu.Fordetails,

Audioproblems
Problem:WaveorMIDIsounddoesnotplaycorrectly.
Solution:Makesurethatthebuilt-inaudiodeviceisconguredcorrectly.
1.ClickStartControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.Double-clickSound,videoandgamecontrollers.
5.MakesurethattheRealtekHDAudiodriverisenabledandconguredcorrectly.
Problem:Recordingsmadeusingthemicrophoneinputarenotloudenough.
Solution:MakesurethattheMicrophoneBoostfunctionisturnedonandsetbydoingthefollowing:
1.ClickStartControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickSound.
4.ClicktheRecordingtabintheSoundwindow.
5.SelectMicrophone,andclickthePropertiesbutton.
6.ClicktheLevelstab,andmovetheMicrophoneBoostsliderupwards.
7.ClickOK.

Solution:Theslidermightbegrayedout.Thismeansthatitspositionisxedbythehardwareand

Problem:Thevolumeslidersdonotstayinplacewhensomeaudioapplicationsareused.
Solution:Itisnormalforthesliderstochangepositionwhencertainsoundapplicationsareused.The
applicationsareawareofthesettingsintheVolumeMixerwindowandareallowedtochangethesettings
themselves.AnexampleistheWindowsMediaPlayer.Usuallytheapplicationhasslidersavailable
tocontrolthesoundfromwithintheapplication.
Problem:Thebalanceslidercannotcompletelymuteonechannel.
Solution:Thecontrolisdesignedtocompensateforminordifferencesinbalanceanddoesnot
completelymuteeitherchannel.
