Power-savingmodes
Thereareseveralmodesthatyoucanuseatanytimetoconservepower.Thissectionintroduceseach
modeandgivestipsontheeffectiveuseofthebatterypower.
Understandingthepower-savingmodes
•Screenblank
Thecomputerdisplayrequiresconsiderablebatterypower.Toturnoffpowertothedisplay,dothe
following:
1.PressFn+F3.Apanelforselectingapowerplanisdisplayed.
2.SelectPoweroffdisplay(keepcurrentpowerplan).
YoualsocanuseFn+F3toturnoffthecomputerdisplaydirectlybydoingthefollowing:
1.PressFn+F3.Apanelforselectingapowerplanisdisplayed.
2.SelectFn+F3Settings.
3.SelectPoweroffdisplay.
4.ClickOK.ThenexttimeyoupressFn+F3,youcanturnoffthecomputerdisplay.
•Sleep
Insleepmode,yourworkissavedtomemory,andthenthesolidstatedriveortheharddiskdriveandthe
computerdisplayareturnedoff.Whenyourcomputerwakesup,yourworkisrestoredwithinseconds.
Toputyourcomputerintosleepmode,pressFn+F4.Toreturnfromsleepmode,presstheFnkey.
Dependingonthecomputermodel,yourcomputermightsupportthe30DayStandbyfunction.When
thisfunctionisenabled,thecomputerconsumesevenlesspowerinthesleepmodeandtakesonly
secondstoresumenormaloperationwhenyoupressthepowerbutton.Toenablethe30DayStandby
function,dothefollowing:
1.StartthePowerManagerprogramandswitchtotheadvancedview.
2.ClicktheGlobalPowerSettingstabandselectEnable30DayStandby.
3.ClickApply.The30DayStandbyfunctionwilltakeeffectthenexttimeyoustartyourcomputer.

Youalsocanusethecombinationtoputthecomputerintohibernationmodeordo-nothingmodeby
changingthesettingsinthePowerManagerprogram.
•Hibernation
Byusingthismode,youcanturnoffyourcomputercompletelywithoutsavinglesorexitingfromany
applicationsthatarerunning.Whenyouenterthehibernationmode,allopenapplications,folders,and
lesaresavedtotheharddisk,andthenthecomputerturnsoff.
UsethePowerManagerprogramtocongurehowyouwantthecomputerenterhibernationmode.For
