•Checkcarefullyforoverheadclearances,suchasbranches,
doorways,andelectricalwires,beforedrivingthemachine
underthem.Donotcontactthem.
•KeeptheROPSinsafeoperatingconditionbythoroughly
inspectingitperiodicallyfordamageandkeepingallthe
mountingfastenerstight.
•ReplaceadamagedROPS.Donotrepairorreviseit.
•AnyalterationstoaROPSmustbeapprovedbyThe
Toro®Company.
SlopeSafety
•Slowdownthemachineanduseextracareonhillsides.
Travelintherecommendeddirectiononhillsides.Turf
conditionscanaffectthestabilityofthemachine.
•Avoidstarting,stopping,orturningthemachineona
slope.Ifthetireslosetraction,disengagetheblade(s)and
proceedslowlystraightdowntheslope.
•Donotturnthemachinesharply.Usecarewhenreversing
themachine.
•Whenoperatingthemachineonaslope,alwayskeepall
cuttingunitslowered.
•Avoidturningthemachineonslopes.Ifyoumustturn,
turnslowlyandgraduallydownhill,ifpossible.
•Useextracarewhileoperatingthemachinewith
attachments;theycanaffectthestabilityofthemachine.

StartingtheEngine
Important:Thefuelsystemautomaticallybleedsitself
whenanyofthefollowingsituationsoccur:
•Initialstartupofanewmachine.
•Theenginehasceasedrunningduetolackoffuel.
•Maintenancehasbeenperformeduponthefuelsystem
components.
1.Removeyourfootfromthetractionpedalandensure
thatitisinneutral.Ensurethattheparkingbrakeisset.
2.Movetheengine-speedswitchtotheLOW-IDLE
position.
3.TurntheignitionkeytotheRUNposition.
Note:Theglowindicatorwilllight.
4.Whentheglowindicatordims,turntheignitionkey
totheSTARTposition.Releasethekeyimmediately
whentheenginestartsandallowittoreturntothe
RUNposition.
Important:Donotrunthestartermotormore
than30secondsatatimeorprematurestarter
failuremayresult.Iftheenginefailstostartafter
30seconds,turnthekeytotheOFFposition,check
thecontrolsandprocedures,wait30additional
seconds,andrepeatthestartingprocedure.
5.Allowenginetowarmupatmidspeed(withoutload),
thenmovethethrottlecontroltothedesiredposition.
Important:Allowenginetoidlefor5minutesbefore
shuttingitoffafterafull-loadoperation.Failuretodo
somayleadtoturbo-chargertrouble.
