Theblade-drivebelt,tensionedbythespring-loadedidler
pulley,isverydurable.However,aftermanyhoursofuse,
thebeltwillshowsignsofwear.Signsofawornbeltare:
squealingwhenthebeltisrotating,bladesslippingwhen
cuttinggrass,frayededges,burnmarks,andcracks.Replace
thebeltifanyoftheseconditionsareevident.
1.Lowerthemowerdecktotheshopoor,removethe
beltcoversfromthetopofthemowerdeck,andset
thecoversaside.
2.Loosentheeyeboltallowingtheremovalofthe
extensionspring(Figure70).
3.Loosentheangenutsecuringthestopbolttothe
mountingtabandmovetheidlerpulleyawayfromthe
belttoreleasethebelttension(Figure70).
Note:Loosenthenutenoughtoallowtheidlerarm
topassthestopbolt.
Note:Ifthestopboltiseverremovedfromthe
mountingtab,makesurethatitisinstalledagaininthe
holethatalignsthestop-boltheadwiththeidlerarm.
4.Removetheboltssecuringthehydraulicmotortothe
mowerdeck(Figure71).

tothemowerdeckwiththeboltspreviouslyremoved.

9.Connecttheextensionspring(Figure70)totheeye
boltandtensionthebeltasfollows:
•Whenproperlytensioned,theinsidemeasurement
oftheextensionspring(hooktohook)should
beapproximately8.3to9.5cm(3-1/4to3-3/4
inches).
•Whenyouattainthecorrectspringtension,
adjustthestopbolt(carriagebolt)untilthereis
approximately2to5mm(0.065to0.185inches)
clearancebetweentheheadoftheboltandthe
idlerarm.
