AdjustingtheTransportSpeed
Supervisor(ProtectedMenu)
Allowsthesupervisortosetthemaximumtransportspeed,in
incrementsof50%,75%or100%,atwhichtheoperatorcan
transport(highrange).
RefertoUsingtheInfoCenterControl(page15)forthe
proceduretosetthetransportspeed.
Operator
Allowstheoperatortoadjustthemaximumtransportspeed
(highrange),withinthesupervisorspre-adjustedsettings.
WhenintheInfoCentersplashormainscreen,pressthe
middlebutton(
icon)toadjustthespeed.
Note:Whenswitchingbetweenlowandhighranges,the
settingswilltransferbasedontheprevioussetting.The
settingsareresetwhenthemachineisturnedoff.
Note:Thisfeaturemayalsobeusedinconjunctionwith
cruisecontrol.
UnderstandingtheOperating
CharacteristicsoftheMachine
Practicedrivingthemachinebecauseithasahydrostatic
transmissionanditscharacteristicsaredifferentthanmany
turf-maintenancemachines.Somepointstoconsiderwhen
operatingthetractionunit,mowerdeck,orotherimplements,
arethetransmission,enginespeed,loadonthemowerblades
orotherimplementcomponents,andtheimportanceofthe
brakes.
WithToroSmartPower™,theoperatordoesnothave
tolistentotheenginespeedinheavyconditions.Smart
Powerpreventsboggingdowninheavyturfbyautomatically
controllingthemachinespeedandoptimizingcutting
performance.
Thebrakescanbeusedtoassistinturningthemachine.
However,usethemcarefully,especiallyonsoftorwetgrass
becausetheturfmaybetornaccidentally.Anotherbenet
ofthebrakesistomaintaintraction.Forexample,insome
slopeconditions,theuphillwheelslipsandlosestraction.If
thissituationoccurs,depresstheuphillturnpedalgradually
andintermittentlyuntiltheuphillwheelstopsslipping,thus,
increasingtractiononthedownhillwheel.
TractionAssistisnowautomaticandrequiresnooperator
input.Whenawheelstartstoslip,owisautomaticallysplit
betweenthefrontandrearwheelstominimizewheelslip
andlossoftraction.
Useextracarewhenoperatingthemachineonslopes.Ensure
thattheROPSisintheraisedposition,theseatlatchis
properlysecuredandtheseatbeltisbuckled.Driveslowly
andavoidsharpturnsonslopestopreventrollovers.For
steeringcontrol,themowerdeckmustbeloweredwhen
goingdownhill.
Beforestoppingtheengine,disengageallcontrolsandchange
thethrottletoSLOW.ChangingthethrottletoSLOWreduces
highenginespeed,noise,andvibration.Turnthekeytothe
OFFpositiontoshutofftheengine.
Beforetransportingthemachine,raisethemowerdecksand
securethetransportlatches(Figure28).

OperatingTips
MowingWhentheGrassIsDry
Moweitherinthelatemorningtoavoidthedew,whichcauses
grassclumping,orlateafternoontoavoidthedamagethat
directsunlightcancauseonthesensitive,freshlymowedgrass.
SelectingtheProperHeight-of-Cut
Setting
Removeapproximately25mm(1inch)ornomorethan1/3
ofthegrassbladewhencutting.Inexceptionallylushand
densegrass,youmayneedtoraiseyourheight-of-cutsetting.
MowingatCorrectIntervals
Grassgrowsatdifferentratesatdifferenttimesoftheyear.
Tomaintainthesamecuttingheight,mowmoreofteninearly
spring.Asthegrassgrowthrateslowsinmidsummer,mow
lessfrequently.Ifyoucannotmowforanextendedperiod,
rstmowatahighcuttingheight,thenmowagain2days
lateratalowerheightsetting.

distances,roughterrain,orwhentrailering.
