CorrectingaMower-Deck
Mismatch
Ifthereismismatchbetweentheblades,onasinglemower
deck,thegrasswillappearstreakedwhenitiscut.This
problemcanbecorrectedbyensuringthatthebladesare
straightandallofthebladesarecuttingonthesameplane.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurfaceoftheshopoor.
2.Raisetheheightofcuttothehighestposition;referto
AdjustingtheHeightofCut(page23).
3.Lowerthemowerdeckontotheatsurfaceand
removethecoversfromthetopofthemowerdeck.
4.Loosentheangenutsecuringtheidlerpulleyto
releasethebelttension.
5.Rotatethebladesuntiltheendsfaceforwardand
backwardandmeasurefromtheoortothefronttip
ofthecuttingedge.
Note:Rememberthisdimension.Thenrotatethe
samebladesothattheoppositeendisforward,and
measureagain.Thedifferencebetweenthedimensions
mustnotexceed3mm(1/8inch).Ifthedimension
exceeds3mm(1/8inch),replacethebladebecauseit
isbent.Makesuretomeasurealloftheblades.
6.Comparethemeasurementsoftheouterbladeswith
thecenterblade.
Note:Thecenterblademustnotbemorethan10mm
(3/8inch)lowerthantheouterblades.Ifthecenter
bladeismorethan10mm(3/8inch)lowerthanthe
outerblades,proceedtostep7andaddshimsbetween
thespindlehousingandthebottomofthemowerdeck.
7.Removethebolts,atwashers,lockwashers,andnuts
fromtheouterspindleintheareawheretheshims
mustbeadded.
Note:Toraiseorlowertheblade,addashim,PartNo.
3256-24,betweenthespindlehousingandthebottom
ofthemowerdeck.Continuetocheckthealignment
ofthebladesandaddshimsuntilthetipsoftheblades
arewithintherequireddimension.
Important:Donotusemorethan3shimsatany1
holelocation.Usedecreasingnumbersofshims
inadjacentholesifmorethan1shimisaddedto
any1holelocation.
8.Adjusttheidlerpulleyandinstallthebeltcovers.
