WARNING
Ifyouremovetherecovery-tankcapfromahot
engine,hotcoolantcouldspray,causingscalding.
•Wearfaceprotectionwhenopeningtheradiator
cap.
•Allowthecoolingsystemtocooldowntobelow
50°C(120°F)beforeremovingtherecovery-tank
cap.
•Followtheinstructionsforcheckingand
maintainingtheenginecoolingsystem.
WARNING
Coolantistoxic.
•Keepcoolantawayfromchildrenandpets.
•Ifyouarenotre-usingthecoolant,disposeofit
accordingtolocalenvironmentalregulations.
CheckingtheCoolantLevel
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
WARNING
Iftheenginehasbeenrunning,theradiatorwillbe
pressurizedandthecoolantinsidewillbehot.If
youremovethecap,coolantmaysprayout,causing
severeburns.
•Donotremovetherecovery-tankcaptocheck
coolantlevels.
•Donotremovetherecovery-tankcapwhenthe
engineishot.Allowtheenginetocoolforat
least15minutesoruntiltheradiatorcapiscool
enoughtotouchwithoutburningyourhand.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,stoptheengine,
andremovetheignitionkey.
2.Allowtheenginetocool.
3.Removetheleftsidepanel;refertoRemovingtheSide
Panels(page45).
4.Checkthecoolantlevelbylookingatthesightgaugein
thesideofthesurgetank(Figure98).
Note:Youshouldseethatthecoolantlevelisabove
themidpointofthesightgauge.

5.Ifthecoolantlevelislow,preformthefollowing:
A.Removethe2hex-headboltsthatsecuretheto
thehoodofthemachine,andopenthereservoir
door(Figure98).
B.Removetherecovery-tankcapfromtherecovery
tank,andaddcoolantuntilthelevelisuptothe
midpointofthesightgauge(Figure98).
Important:Donotoverllthesurgetank
Note:Ifcoolantlevelislow,checkforleaksin
thehoses,radiator,andtherecoverytank.
C.Installtherecovery-tankcap,ensuringthatitis
tightlysealed.
D.Closethereservoirdoorandsecureitwiththe2
hex-headboltsthatyouremovedinstepA.
6.Iftheairtemperatureisbelow0°C(32°F),mixthe
ethyleneglycolandwatercompletelybyrunningthe
engineatoperatingtemperaturefor5minutes.
