1.Positionthevehicleonalevelsurface,stopthe
engine,andengagetheparkingbrake.
2.Withthereturnspringinstalled,holdtheengine
governorarmtowardtheoperator’ssideofthe
vehicleandadjustthelowidlestoptoobtaina0.01
to0.05inch(0.25to1.25mm)gapbetweentheO.D.
oftheholeinthethrottleleverandtheinsideofthe
governorspringhook(Figure54).

Theenginemustberunningsothenal
adjustmentoftheacceleratorcanbeperformed.
Toguardagainstpossiblepersonalinjury,
engagetheparkingbrakeandkeephands,feet,
face,andotherpartsofyourbodyawayfrom
anymovingparts.
3.Starttheengineandallowittowarmuptonormal
operatingtemperature.Verifythelowidlesetting
of1200±100rpm.
4.Adjustthehighidlestoptoobtain3600±50rpm
whenthethrottlelevercontactsthestop.
5.Stoptheengine.
6.Adjusttheballjointontheacceleratorcableand/or
cablejamnutswhilethethrottleleverisagainsthigh
idlestoptoallow0.100to0.250inch(2.54to6.35
mm)ofclearancebetweentheacceleratorpedalarm
andthetopofthediamondtreadoorplate,whena
25lb(11.3kg)forceisappliedtothecenterofthe
pedal(Figure55).Tightenthelocknut.
