The
CD-ROM
drive
allows
you
to
use
compact
discs
(CDs)
with
the
computer.
You
can
use
compact
discs
to
install
and
run pro
grams,
play
audio,
and
view
video
and
photo
CDs.
Pressing
the
CD
drive
eject
button
allows
you
to
open
the
CD-
ROM
drive
loading
tray.
The
CD
drive
access
indicator
glows
when
the
CD-ROM
drive
is
accessed.
The
CD
drive
manual
eject
button allows
you
to
remove
a
com
pact
disc
from
the
CD-ROM
drive
when
neither
AC
nor
battery
power
is
available.
The
USB
(Universal
Serial
Bus)
port
allows
you
to
connect
USB
peripherals
to
the
computer.
DEFINITION:
USB
is
a
peripheral
expansion
standard
that
supports
data-transfer
rates
up
to
12
Mbps
for
peripherals
such
as
keyboards,
pointing
devices,
and
monitors.
USB
peripherals
have
a
single
standard
for
cabling
and
connec
tors.
The
USB
standard
allows
you
to
"hot
swap"
peripherals.
The
PS/2
port
allows
you
to
connect
an
optional
PS/2-compatible
mouse
or
external
keyboard
to
the
computer.
You
can
use
an
optional
Y-cable
to
connect
a
PS/2
mouse
and
a
PS/2
keyboard
simultaneously.
