Communicating systems troubleshooting guide
Wait
Comfort Control = Wait
User Interface = No Alert Displayed
Outdoor Unit Fault LED = 7 Flash
Problem Description
• Low pressure cut-out open (short lock-out, five mins.)
- (Heat Pump) opens at 25 PSI and closes at 45 PSI
- (Cooling only) opens at 50 PSI and closes at 70 PSI
• On the third short lock-out the control will issue a hard
lock-out and Err 79 on the comfort control
Possible Causes/Solutions
• System low on charge
• Refrigerant restriction
• Indoor airflow restriction (cooling mode)
• Outdoor airflow restriction (heating mode)
• Wiring to low pressure switch either open or shorted
Wait
Comfort Control = Wait
User Interface = No Alert Displayed
Outdoor Unit Fault LED = 17 Flash
Problem Description
• High pressure monitor fault (short lock-out, five mins.)
- Opens at 650 PSI and closes at 500 PSI
• On the fifth short lock-out the control will issue a hard
lock-out and ERR80 on the comfort control
Possible Causes/Solutions
• Faulty outdoor fan (cooling mode)
• Faulty indoor blower (heating mode)
• Refrigerant over charge
• Outdoor airflow restriction (cooling mode)
• Indoor airflow restriction (heating mode)
• Wiring to high pressure switch either open or shorted
Error 10: Ignition means fault
Comfort Control = Err 10
User Interface = IGNITER ERR
Furnace Fault LED = 6 Flash
Problem Description
• Ignitor or ignitor circuit is open
- Good igniter should read between 11-18 ohms (cold)
Possible Causes/Solutions
• If multiple ignitors fail check for proper chassis ground
• An improper ground will cause the control board to not
reduce the number of A/C sine wave cycles to the igni
tor causing premature failure
• Also see AC VOLTS HI for additional causes
Error 10: Ignition means fault
Comfort Control = Err 10
User Interface = TRIAC ERR
Furnace Fault LED = 6 Flash
Problem Description
• Triac internal to control board has failed
Possible Causes/Solutions
• Replace furnace control board
• If multiple failures occur check for a line voltage short
in the ignitor circuit
Error 18: Control failure
Comfort Control = Err 18
User Interface = CNTRL FAULT
Air Handler Fault LED = Solid ON
or
Furnace Fault LED = Solid ON
Problem Description
• Internal control failure within indoor unit
• Status LED will also be “ON” solid when this fault con-
dition exists
Possible Causes/Solutions
• Replace indoor control board
• Board failure could be caused by line voltage spikes
or electrostatic discharge
