Alert Code Response
Error 22: Soft lock-out due to flame loss or
ignition retries
Comfort Control = Err 22
User Interface = RECYCLE LO
Furnace Fault LED = 2 Flash
Problem Description
10 burner recycles within a single call for heat
Burners ignite and flame sensor circuit is proven then
flame drops out
Possible Causes/Solutions
Gas valve solenoid failing
Inlet gas pressure dropping to low
- Gas pressure regulator failing
- Debris in gas valve screen or blockage in supply line
Air impingement on burners or flame
Error 18: Control failure
Comfort Control = Err 18
User Interface = No Alert Displayed
Outdoor Unit Fault LED = 18 Flash
Problem Description
(16 & 20 SEER Only) 24 volts not sensed at Y1 input of
J1 connector on outdoor control board
- The Y1 input is monitored to sense very short power
interruptions that could cause compressor short
cycling
Possible Causes/Solutions
Faulty or missing “Y1” input into J1 connector on
out door control board
Verify red wire to top center pin of J1 connector is
delivering 24vac to outdoor control board
Error 18: Control failure
Comfort Control = Err 18
User Interface = No Alert Displayed
Air Cleaner Fault LED = YEL-2, 3 & 4 ON;
RED-1 ON, 2 & 3 OFF
Problem Description
Internal control lockout within air cleaner
Possible Causes/Solutions
Re-power air cleaner; if fault does not clear replace
the power door
Failure could be caused by line voltage spikes or
electrostatic discharge
Error 22: Soft lock-out due to flame loss or
ignition retries
Comfort Control = Err 22
User Interface = RETRY LO
Furnace Fault LED = 2 Flash
Problem Description
3 ignition attempts in a row without proving flame within
a single call for heat
Possible Causes/Solutions
Flame sensor not sensing flame (less than one
microamp)
Inlet/outlet gas pressure too high or low
Flame sensor not positioned properly in flame
Burner crossovers not aligned properly or restricted
