11 Gimbal Cleaning and Handling
Trillium gimbals are sensitive and high-performance systems which require attention to detail in
handling, cleaning, and transportation. The following procedures outline the proper steps to ensure
the Orion gimbal are maintained for operation.
11.1.1 Handling
The gimbal has pan and tilt axis which rotate freely and proper handling of the gimbal is important
to prevent damage or dropping of the units. Gimbal should always be supported by the clevis side
ears with two hands as shown below.
Caution: Do not handle gimbal by the payload ball or crown only and take care not to place hands
on front cover windows. Incorrect handling examples are shown below.
