Operations & Maintenance Manual: Cleaning & Disinfecting
Do not reuse, reprocess, or resterilize single‑use components. Reuse, reprocessing, or
resterilization may create a risk of contamination of the device.
WARNING
Cleaning and disinfecting the system is an important part of using and maintaining it. Prior to each use,
ensure that all system components have been cleaned, disinfected, or sterilized according to the guidance
provided in Table 5. You should also examine the system periodically to make sure it is operating correctly.
For more information, see the Maintenance & Safety chapter on page56.
This chapter is divided into the following sections:
• General Information—Contains an overview of system information and provides the cleaning and
disinfection procedures that are common to the system
• Video Batons—Contains the cleaning and disinfection procedures for the AVL video baton
• Direct Intubation Trainer—Contains the cleaning and disinfection procedure for the GlideScope Direct
intubation trainer
Prior to cleaning or disinfecting, ensure the protective cap is properly fitted on the video cable connector. The
arrow on the connector plug should match to the dot on the protective cap.
Correct fitting Incorrect fitting
Do not let any contaminant(s) dry on the device. Bodily contaminants tend to become securely attached
to solid surfaces when dried, making removal more difficult.
When using any of the disinfectants listed in this manual, read and comply with product use instructions
in all applications.
