Paging sensitivity search function
Why?
!
See if the receiver sensitivity of the mobile station is
good enough.
!
For all cases where you do not have access to the BER
values calculated inside the mobile station.
Requirements
!
Mobile station is registered ("idle updated") and not in a
call.
!
Source RF must be selected in the DEFINE TETRA
mask.
How?
!
Set the STABILOCK output level "Start" to a value some
dB higher than the expected sensitivity value (default
–100 dBm).
!
Set the STABILOCK output level "Step" (default –2 dB).
!
Press
{P-SENS}
in the basic test mask. The STABILOCK
sets its output level to the Start value and transmits
paging request messages to the mobile. As long as this
message is acknowledged by the mobile, the
STABILOCK will change its output level according to
the Step value and continue sending paging request
messages.
!
When the mobile does not acknowledge the mess-
age within a certain period of time, the search func-
tion is finished, the last output level at which the
mobile acknowledged the paging is displayed as
P-Sensitivity value and the former RF level
setting will be restored.
"
Some types of mobiles do not support the freeze/revert open loop power control
message, used in the search routine. In those cases you should first run a
REGISTER with a STABILOCK RF level < –80 dBm (eg –100 dBm) before
pressing
{P-SENS}
.
