Motor Speed
The MOTOR SPEED diagnostic test is used to adjust the Scanner motor
speed to achieve the correct document transport speed and remove
magnification error in the process direction. If the motor speed is incorrect,
an adjustment is automatically made. If a correct speed is achieved, Passed
is displayed; FAILED is displayed otherwise.
An error up to 2% may be corrected.
To correct the motor speed, perform the following steps:
1. Select MOTOR SPEED from the COMPONENT TESTS menu. The
MOTOR SPEED screen is displayed.
2. Insert Test Pattern 082E11490 face down and with the short edge as the
lead edge. Allow the Scanner to transport the pattern to the starting
position.
3. Press the Start key. The Scanner scans the test pattern, and either
PASSED or FAILED is reported. If Passed is reported, the Scanner was
able to make a valid motor speed adjustment automatically. If FAILED
is displayed, and the magnification error is still not acceptable, call for
service.
4. Press the Exit key to leave the MOTOR SPEED screen.
