Exchanging the Purge Valve Frit
When • Frit – when piston seals are exchanged or when contaminated or blocked (pressure drop of
> 10 bar across the frit at a flow rate of 5 mL/min of water with purge valve opened)
• Purge valve – if internally leaking
Tools required p/n Description
8710-0510 Wrench open 1/4 — 5/16 inch
8710-1924 Wrench open 14 mm
Pair of tweezers
OR Toothpick

1 5067-4728 Seal cap (OPTIONAL)
Preparations • Switch off pump at the main power switch
• Remove the front cover
• Use an optional solvent shutoff valve or lift up solvent filters in solvent reservoirs for avoiding
leakages.
1 Using a 1/4 inch wrench disconnect the pump outlet
capillary from the purge valve.
2 Disconnect the waste tube. Beware of leaking solvents
due to hydrostatic pressure.
3 Using the 14 mm wrench unscrew the purge valve and
remove it.
4 Remove the seal cap from the purge valve.
5 Using a pair of tweezers or a toothpick remove the frit.
