3) Configure the Pedal to a Specific Function For Each User Kit:
If you assigned the foot controller pedal as “CONTROLLER”, then you must also configure the pedal for each
User Kit.
This is done on the following Kit Auxiliary screens for your User Kit:
FOOT CONTROLLER ONE ASSIGNMENT (Short Cut = # 9)
FOOT CONTROLLER TWO ASSIGNMENT (Short Cut = # 14)
Parameters = CC# 00-128 (including some individual Continuous Controller Names)
If a Foot Controllers has been designated as “Controller” – it may be assigned to any CC#.
Some commonly used functions have been named such as volume, modulation, pitch bend, chorus depth, pan,
expression, etc. for convenience.
Special malletKAT Foot Controller functions are also assigned here such as Warp Volume, Blend, etc.
FOOT CONTROLLER ONE CHANNEL (Short Cut = # 13)
FOOT CONROLLER TWO CHANNEL (Short Cut = # 18)
Parameters = Same as CNTRL1, Same as CNTRL2, Both Controllers, 01-16
The MIDI channel for the effect of Foot Controller can be assigned to match the same channel as defined in either
Controller. It can also be assigned to MIDI channels of Both Controllers (sends two data streams), Lastly, it can
be assigned to any individual MIDI channel.
FOOT CONTROLLER ONE CURVE (Short Cut = # 12)
FOOT CONTROLLER TWO CURVE (Short Cut = # 17)
Parameters = 00-11
The response curve for Foot Controller One may be selected from any of the Curves available in the malletKAT
Pro. Curve 8 was made specifically to be used as the curve for Foot Control.
FOOT CONTROLLER ONE MAXIMUM EFFECT (Short Cut = # 11)
FOOT CONTROLLER TWO MAXIMUM EFFECT (Short Cut = # 16)
Parameters = 00-127
The Maximum MIDI value that will be sent for the effect selected (CC#) for the Foot Controller. The value setting
can be between 0 and 127. Adjust this so that the full depression of the Foot Controller’s pedal will be at the
number set here.
FOOT CONTROLLER ONE MINIMUM EFFECT (Short Cut = # 10)
FOOT CONTROLLER TWO MINIMUM EFFECT (Short Cut = # 15)
Parameters = 00-127
The Minimum MIDI value that will be sent for the effect selected (CC#) for the Foot Controller. The value setting
can be between 0 and 127. Adjust this so that the backward release of the Foot Controller’s pedal will be at the
number set here.
6.4. Working With Gate Settings
Gate Time is the amount of time a note should naturally sustain before it is shut off. It represents the minimum
sustain time when not deliberately extended longer with the sustain pedal or by manually holding individual notes
down.
