CAMPING
Departure Checklist
Inside
• Turn off water pump switch.
• Close windows and vents.
• Lock all interior cabinet doors.
• Latch refrigerator door. (Seal containers)
• Store and stack securely all loose, hard and sharp objects.
• Fasten doors.
• Drain toilet bowl.
• Turn off interior lights.
• Secure table.
• R SERIES: Lower the roof. (See Lowering the Roof section.)
• Secure and lock entrance.
Outside
• Retract step.
• Disconnect and stow the electrical hookup cord, the sewer hookup hose (flush out), and
the water hookup hose.
• Raise corner stabilizers.
• Check hitch: It must be properly attached.
• Check safety chains and breakaway switch cable.
• Fully retract jack. Remove and stow jack wheel.
• Check clearance, turn, and stop lights.
• Check lug nuts.
• Check tires for correct pressure.
• Adjust tow vehicle mirrors.
• Pull forward some 15 metres (50 ft.), test brakes, and check site for forgotten objects and
cleanliness.
Home
• Leave house keys with your neighbours.
• Valuables and important papers should be stored in a safe place.
• Newspaper and other deliveries should be discontinued.
• Ask the Post Office to hold your mail for you.
• Arrange with the telephone company for discontinued or “vacation service”.
• Arrange care for your pets.
• Arrange care for your lawn, garden and houseplants.
• Lock all windows and doors securely. Keep shades open for a lived-in look.
• Cover all food to keep out mice and insects.
• Eliminate all fire hazards. Place matches in a tin box or glass jar.
