Potable Water Hookup
There is a hinged hatch on the left side of the ALTO. The potable water fill hatch locks for added
(photo C-2). Inside, the large cap on the left (photo C-3.1) covers the potable water fill for the 60
litre (15, 8 US gal) tank for models R1713, R1723 and F1743, and 100 litres (26.4 US gal) tank for
models F2114, A2124 and F2414.
On the right of the tank fill opening, the potable water inlet with a metal coupling (photo C-3.2))
is used for a direct connection to a campground or home water supply. Always use a potable
water approved ½” hose. It should be one that is tasteless, odourless and nontoxic and specially
designed for trailer use. We suggest you carry two lengths of hose. This way you have the ability
to reach hookups further away than normal; and, you have a spare hose should one fail or become
damaged unexpectedly. The recommended storage space for the hose is the front exterior
storage compartment on the left side.
The potable water level indicator is located inside, on the wall close to the entrance. See Monitor
Panel (photo F-1.4) “FRESH” (POTABLE WATER).
When connected directly to a water supply, shut off the water pump (see monitor,
photo F-1.3).
When connected directly to a water supply, always install a water pressure regulator (not
supplied) between your hose and the water supply.
Once the system is filled with water and the faucets closed, the water pump will shut off. When
a faucet is opened, the pump will come back on automatically. If the faucet is just barely open, it
is normal for the pump to cycle on and off rapidly.
Water pressure at some campgrounds may be low. The water pump can be turned on to assist
the city water hookup pressure. Be sure there is some water in the potable water tank. The pump
will only use the water that is needed out of the tank to bring the pressure up to the usual
standard.
Experienced travellers usually fill their tanks with “home” water to avoid strange water that may
be distasteful to them.
