Air Conditioner
Air conditioner heat pump (optional on ALTO R1713, R1723, R1743, F2114, A2124)
Instructions pertaining to the air conditioner heat pump are included in the documentation
given to you at the dealership. Please read and follow all provided care, maintenance, and
safety information. Store instructions in a safe place for future reference. Pass the
documentation on to any subsequent users of the air conditioner heat pump.
IMPORTANT: It is strongly recommended that you read the supplied manufacturer’s
instructions when purchasing trailer.
The voltage to the air conditioner is critical. We commonly refer to 120 volts, but a check with a
voltmeter may reveal a much lower voltage. Your air conditioner will probably not function if the
current drops below 105 volts. Low voltage is usually associated with older or poorly maintained
trailer parks, but many people have found that their homes, built only twenty or thirty years ago,
may not be capable of operating the air conditioner on some receptacles. Parking your trailer so
the power cord can be plugged into a receptacle close to the fuse or circuit breaker box can
alleviate the problem. Avoid extension cords and adapters whenever possible. If an extension
cord must be used, it should be as short and heavy as possible to provide the most current to the
air conditioner.
If high temperatures are expected, you should make an effort to park in a shaded area. Starting
the air conditioner early in the morning also helps. It is much easier to hold a comfortable
temperature than it is to lower the temperature after the interior of the trailer has heated up.
It is important to note that the power for the air conditioner comes from two different sources:
a 20A/120 V breaker that controls the main source of power, as well as a 10A/12 V HEATER/AC
fuse for the thermostat and AC control.
IMPORTANT : If the rear thermostat (photo K-25) is set incorrectly when the ALTO is not
plugged in, the thermostat will consume a considerable amount of 12 V DC electricity. This
could drain your battery within one or two weeks. When the ALTO is unplugged, make sure
that “SYSTEM” switch is in “OFF” position. A sticker placed near the thermostat serves as a
reminder of these instructions.
