Full Winterizing of Potable Water System with Aquago Comfort Plus Instant Water
Heater
Before starting winterizing, make sure ALTO is level.
1. Close the pump (photo F-1.3) and water heater (photo O-7.2) using their respective
switch.
2. DANGER - WARNING: To avoid splashing at step 4, open hot water tap to remove any
residual pressure in the pipes.
3. At the rear of the water heater compartment, put the A and B bypass valves (photos O-
5.2 and O-5.3) in the winter position, which is vertical, and close the return line E valve
(photo O-5.4) (turn 90 degrees to line).
4. Open the heater access door, trigger the toggle lever (photo O-7.1) and keep in a
horizontal position until water stops flowing (about 2 minutes).
5. Remove the filter cartridge (photo D-6) and store it in your ALTO. Turn the exterior water-
heater switch off.
6. Close the toggle lever (photo O-7.1), turn the exterior switch to “OFF” and close the access
door. Your heater is now protected from freezing but NOT the rest of the plumbing.
7. Drain waste water tanks (see Holding tanks), rinse them by filling them up with water and
drain again.
8. Drain potable water tank by opening the exterior valve (photo E-1) located behind the
axle, between the wheel on the driver side and the chassis (or close to the dump valves
depending on the model).
9. Close the exterior valve of the potable water tank (photo E-1).
10. Pour 8 litres (2 US gal) of plumbing antifreeze -50 °C in the potable water tank.
11. Turn the water pump “ON” at the “PUMP” switch (photo F-1.3) on tank monitor panel.
Indicator light will come on.
12. Open cold water tap at sink during 10 seconds, antifreeze should run pure in colour.
13. Open hot water tap at sink during 10 seconds, antifreeze must run in colour.
14. Interior shower, open cold-water tap let antifreeze run for 10 seconds, then open hot
water tap and let run for 10 seconds, this will also fill the shower drain trap with antifreeze
to protect it. In case of optional corner sink in the shower module, also fill sink drain trap
with antifreeze.
15. Toilet: pull the flush lever and let antifreeze run for 10 seconds. Do not forget to open
wash down spray for 10 seconds.
16. Exterior shower, open cold tap for 10 seconds, hot water tap for 10 seconds, until
antifreeze flows out for 10 seconds.
17. Open valve D (photo O-5.1) to let antifreeze run under the trailer for 10 seconds.
18. Turn “OFF” water pump using switch (photo F-1.3).
