Preparations on the tractor and plough
4.2 Preparations on the tractor
Familiarize yourself with all functions on the tractor!
Read the operating manual of the tractor manufacturer!
Tyres:
Tyre pressure, especially that of the tractor's rear wheels, must be
identical.
Ballast weights:
Ensure adequate front ballasting of your tractor. The weight of the
plough on the rear lifting gear of the tractor relieves the load on the
front axle and can impair the steering and braking behaviour.
Moreover, the pulling force transfer (slippage) is improved with four-
wheel drive tractors.
Lifting rods:
The lifting rods H must be set to the same length
left and right. If the lifting rods H can be set on
the lower links U, then they should be set as far
back as possible. This relieves the load on the
tractor's hydraulic system.
Lateral stabilisation of the lower links:
Completely lock the lower link U in its lateral
movement.
This setting also applies for ploughing
and transport.
