Chapter 1 — General Information
1-1 Introduction
This chapter provides a description of the handheld Anritsu Spectrum Master™ models
MS2721B, MS2723B, and MS2724B, referred to collectively as model series MS272xB, and
also model MS8911B Digital Broadcast Field Analyzer. The chapter also briefly describes
preventive maintenance, calibration requirements, ESD cautions, and additional documents.
General and performance specifications, instrument options, standard accessories, and
optional accessories are in the Spectrum Master Technical Data Sheets. Part numbers are
listed in Table A-2, “Related Documents” on page A-3.
Throughout this manual, these instruments may be referred to as a Spectrum Master or as a
model MS2721B, MS2723B, MS2724B, or as model MS272xB, and may also be referred to as
a Digital Broadcast Field Analyzer or as model MS8911B. The term Spectrum Master is used
for all models, with specific exceptions noted as required.
Measurement images that are displayed in this manual are typical examples of instrument
capabilities. The measurements and their traces may differ from any measurements on your
instrument.
Spectrum Master models MS2723B and MS2724B are now obsolete. Support continues for
these models. Replacement instruments are:
• MS2723B is replaced by MS2723C
• MS2724B is replaced by MS2724C
