MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
When a tire’s tread wear indicator becomes visible, the
tire is worn beyond the acceptable limit and must be
replaced immediately. Using tires that are excessively
worn or improperly inflated can cause a crash in which
you can be seriously hurt or killed.
Tire Inflation
NOTE
The recommended cold inflation pressure for all three
tires on the FUV is 35 psi.
For an accurate reading, check tire pressure when tires
are cold. This means that the tires have not been ridden
on for at least 3 hours. Driving warms the tires and
increases tire air pressure.
1. Remove the valve stem cap.
2. Adjust tire pressure to 35 psi (241 kPa).
3. Always replace the valve stem cap when finished
checking or adjusting tire pressures.
Do not exceed the maximum inflation pressure to seat
the bead (44 psi / 303 kPa). Tire or rim failure may
result.
Improving Tire Mileage
To improve the mileage you get from your tires, maintain
tires at the recommended tire pressures, observe speed
limits and advisory speeds, and avoid:
l Pulling away quickly, or hard acceleration.
l Fast turns and heavy braking.
l Potholes and objects in the road.
l Hitting curbs when parking.
l Contaminating tires with fluids that can cause
damage.
