1. See Starting the Engine in this manual and use the
correct procedure to start the engine.
2. Actuate the starter motor.
3. Push and release the ether start button (1). Release
the key when the engine starts to run. If the engine
does not start after two tries, See Starting Fluid
Container in this manual and check the supply of
ether in the container.

NOTE:
DO NOT actuate the starter motor for more than
20 to 30 seconds at on time. Wait three minutes so the
charge in the battery can increase and the starter motor
can cool.
NOTE:
The ether start aid system will operate only when
the engine is cold and when the starter motor is actuated
IMPORTANT:
Before you replace the ether container,
read the instructions and warnings on the container.
BOOSTER BATTERY CONNECTIONS
Two persons are required for this procedure. Make sure
the person making the connections is wearing face
protection.
1. Make sure all controls are in NEUTRAL and the
Parking/Emergency Brake is in the ON position.
2. Make sure the jumper battery is 12 volts.

3. If using another machine for power, make sure the
two machines DO NOT touch.
4. See Starting the Engine in this manual and do steps 1
through 7.
5. Have the other person do the following:
A. Connect the positive (+) jumper cable to the
positive (+) battery terminal (1).
B. Connect the negative (-) jumper cable to a good
frame ground away from the batteries.
6. Turn the ignition key switch to START. Release the key
as soon as the engine starts to run.
NOTE:
If the engine starts and then stops, DO NOT
engage the starter motor again until the starter motor
stops turning. Do not operate the starter motor for more
than 30 seconds at one time. Allow the starter motor to
cool for 30 seconds before you engage the starter motor
again.
7. When the engine starts, have the other person first
disconnect the negative (-) jumper cable from the
frame, and then disconnect the positive (+) jumper
cable last.

12 and 13.
WARNING:
Batteries contain acid and
explosive gas. Explosion can result from sparks,
flames or wrong cable connections. To connect
the jumper cables correctly to the battery of this
machine, see the correct method shown on this
page. Failure to follow these instructions can
cause serious injury or death.

Always wear face protection
when making battery connections.
