3. Loosen the rear adjusting nuts (3).
NOTE:
Make sure you tighten each front adjustment nut
the same number of turns.
4. Tighten the front adjusting nuts (2) until the tension
is correct.
5. Tighten the rear adjusting nuts.
6. Do Step 10.
7. Loosen the front adjusting nuts.
NOTE:
Make sure you tighten each rear adjustment nut
the same number of turns.
8. Tighten the rear adjusting nuts until the tension is
correct.
9. Tighten the front adjusting nuts.
10. Tighten the 4 cap screws (1) for the bearings to a
torque of 109 to 130 Nm (80 to 96 lb ft).
Replacing Jackshaft Drive Belts

1. BEARINGS 2. ADJUSTING NUTS
1. See Replacing Pump Drive Belt in this manual and do
Steps 1 through 5.
2. Pull the sheave from the engine drive shaft until there
is sufficient clearance to remove the jackshaft drive
belts.
3. Remove jackshaft drive belts and install new drive
belts.
4. Carefully push the sheave into the engine drive shaft.
5. See Replacing Pump Drive Belt in this manual and do
Steps 6 through 10.
6. See Jackshaft Drive Belt Tension Adjustment in this
manual and adjust tension for the jackshaft drive
belts.
TRENCHER DRIVE CHAIN
Tension
Check the tension of the trencher drive chain every 50
hours of operation.

NOTE:
Shroud removed to show location of parts only.
2. Push the drive chain with your thumb to check the
tension (3).
A. If the deflection is between 8 to 15 mm (7/16 to 9/
16 inch) the tension is correct. Go to Step 6.
B. If the deflection is less than 8 mm (7/16 inch) or
more than 15 mm (9/16 inch) go to Step 3 and
adjust the tension.
3. Loosen the cap screw (2) for the tension sprocket (1).
4. Do one of the following:
A. Push the tension sprocket toward the chain to
increase chain tension.
B. Push the tension sprocket away from the chain to
decrease chain tension.
5. Tighten the cap screw.
6. Install the side access cover.
