OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

WET BORING
NOTE:
Before beginning wet boring operations check
local laws and regulations pertaining to this type of
boring. In some areas wet boring operations may not be
permitted. Also check to ensure that the fluid used is
permitted for use in boring applications.
1. Attach the water coupler (3) to the Hydra-Borer
universal joint.
2. Attach a maximum of three drill stems outside the
hole being bored. When one stem length is under
ground, another can be added before boring
operations continue. Minimize the number of drill
stems outside the hole. Excess length tends to bow or
whip unless restrained by the guide anchors.
IMPORTANT:
Be sure to use the correct retainer (6).
Make sure that the retainer DOES NOT protrude through
the drill stem.
NOTE:
If standard 1 inch pipe is used, it may be left in
the hole to act as a conduit for wire, etc.
3. Connect a hose from the water pump to the water
coupler and from the fluid source (tank, pond) to the
water pump inlet.
4. Begin boring operations with a fishtail bit (10) to bore
a pilot hole. Attach the drill bit to the drill stem using
a female quick lock adapter (9). If using standard drill
pipe the drill bit will thread directly into the drill pipe.
5. Put the selector control valve lever in the ON position.
6. Engage the Hydra-Borer control lever (either forward
or reverse) to turn the drill stem.
7. Engage the belt tension lever to drive the water
pump.
8. Use the creep control knob to control ground speed.
The ground speed should be sufficient to allow the bit
to work freely while boring. DO NOT FORCE BORE
THE HOLE.
9. After the target hole is reached you may wish to
change the bit and use another accessory to
backream and enlarge the hole (i.e. items 11 and 12).
If you do, STOP THE MACHINE and TURN OFF
THE ENGINE. Make sure that the drill stem is not
turning before you attempt to change or remove the
bit.
