ADJUSTMENT/MAINTENANCE
ENGINE DRIVE BELT

1. PULLEY 2. ADJUSTING BOLTS 3. CHECK TENSION HERE
Tension Adjustment
Check the drive belt condition every 100 hours of
operation.
Replace the drive belt if you see any of the following:
cuts, cracks, loose cords, grease, oil or twisting.
1. Push the drive belt with your thumb to check the
tension (3).
A. If the deflection is between 9 to 15 mm (3/8 to 5/8
inch) the tension is correct.
B. If the deflection is less than 9 mm (3/8 inch) or
more than 15 mm (5/8 inch) adjust the tension.
2. Loosen the Allen head screws or adjusting bolts (2).
3. Move the adjusting pulley (1) to adjust the belt
tension.
4. Tighten the Allen head screws or adjusting bolts.
5. Check the belt tension.
Replacing Engine Drive Belt
1. Loosen the Allen head screws or adjusting bolts (2).
2. Remove the drive belt.
3. Install the new drive belt.
4. Check the tension.

operation.
Replace the drive belt if you see any of the following:
cuts, cracks, loose cords, grease, oil or twisting.
1. Push the drive belt with your thumb to check the
tension.
A. If the deflection is between 3 to 6 mm (1/8 to 1/4
inch) the tension is correct.
B. If the deflection is less than 3 mm (1/8 inch) or
more than 6 mm (1/4 inch) adjust the tension.
2. Loosen the top lock nut.
3. Tighten the bottom lock nut until the tension is
correct.
4. Tighten the top lock nut.
WARNING:
Shut off engine and remove key
before performing maintenance or repair work.
WARNING:
Rotating belts. Contact with
rotating belts can cause serious injury or death.
Always stop the engine and remove the key before
working in this area.
