Engine Oil Level
BD01F324
NOTE:
Check the engine oil every 10 hours of operation
or once every day, whichever occurs first.
Make sure the engine is not running and the machine is
parked on a level surface when you check the oil level.
NOTE:
If the engine has been running, wait 2 or 3
minutes before you check the oil level.
1. Raise the engine service hood. Stand on the right side
of the machine and locate the engine oil dipstick (1).
2. Pull out the dipstick and wipe with a clean cloth.
3. Push the dipstick completely in and remove.
4. The oil level must be between the ADD and FULL
marks on the dipstick.
5. If the oil level is below the ADD mark, add oil through
the oil filler cap (2), located in the valve cover at the
front of the engine. Raise the oil level to the FULL
mark. Do not raise the oil level above the FULL mark.
6. Install the oil filler cap, if removed
7. Install the dipstick. Make sure the dipstick is fully
seated in the dipstick tube. Lower the engine service
hood.
NOTE:
See Engine Lubrication chart for the engine oil
specifications.
Engine Oil and Filter Change
Change the engine oil after the first 5 to 8 hours of
operation and then every 50 hours of operation. Replace
the engine oil filter every 50 hours or operation.
Change the oil more often if the engine is operated in
dirty or dusty conditions or if engine is operated under
heavy loads or in high ambient air temperatures.
If possible, change the oil when the oil is warm. Warm oil
drains quickly and completely.
RT160044
1. Park the machine on a level surface and stop the
engine. Remove the key.
2. Move the Steering Brake Levers all the way
REARWARD to lock the brakes.
3. Open the hood. Loosen and remove the dipstick.
4. Place a drain pan that will hold 1.9 L (2 U.S. Qts.)
under the engine drain plug and remove the plug.
5. Allow the used oil to drain completely, then reinstall
the drain bolt, and tighten it securely.
6. Standing on the right side of the unit, reach around
the rear of the engine with a filter strap wrench and
remove and discard the oil filter.
7. Clean the gasket seal surface on the filter head with a
clean cloth.
8. Apply a thin layer of clean grease or oil to the gasket
seal of the new oil filter.
IMPORTANT:
DO NOT use a filter strap wrench to
install the new oil filter. An oil filter strap wrench can
cause a leak if the filter is dented.
9. Install the filter. Use your hands to tighten the filter
until the filter seal makes contact with the filter
mounting base. Then tighten the filter an additional
1/2 to 3/4 turn.
10. Fill the crankcase with the specified amount of the
recommended oil. See Engine Lubrication in this
manual.
11. Install the filler cap and the dipstick. Check the oil
level.
12. Start the engine. Run the engine at idle for
approximately 2 minutes. Check for oil leaks.
13. Stop the engine.
