ADJUSTMENT/MAINTENANCE
TRENCHER DRIVE BELT TENSION
Check the trencher drive belt tension every 50 hours of
operation. Adjust as necessary. If the drive belt is new,
check and adjust the belt every 30 minutes until the
tension remains constant.
Replace the trencher drive belt if you see any of the
following: cuts, cracks, loose cords, grease, oil or twisting.

1. Park the machine on a level surface, stop the engine
and remove the key.
2. Move the Steering Brake Levers all the way
REARWARD to lock the brakes.
3. Open the hood.
4. Check the deflection of the trencher drive belt
between the engine pulley and trencher clutch. The
belt deflection must be 6 mm (1/4 inch) with
approximately 9 kg (20 pounds) of force.
5. If the belt needs adjustment, do the following steps.
6. Loosen the four engine mounting bolts.

7. Loosen the lock nuts on the two adjustment bolts.
8. Turn the adjustment bolts to adjust the tension of the
trencher drive belt. Make sure you keep the engine in
alignment with the jackshaft.
9. After the tension is correct, tighten the lock nuts on
the adjustment bolts and tighten the four engine
mounting bolts.
10. Close the hood.
