Check the operators seat and the mounting parts for the
seat belt. Tighten the bolts to the correct torque. See
Operators Seat Torque Specifications in this manual.
Replace the parts that have wear or damage.
Check for cracks, rust or holes in the ROPS and ROPS
parts. Age, weather and accidents will cause damage to
the ROPS and ROPS parts. If you have any doubt about
the ROPS system, see your dealer.
Damage to the ROPS
If the machine has rolled over or the ROPS has been in
some other type of accident (such as hitting an overhead
object during transport), you MUST replace the damaged
ROPS component parts.
After an accident, check the following for damage:
1. The ROPS enclosure.
2. The Lower ROPS frame.
3. The Operator’s seat
4. The seat belt mounting and seat belt.
Before you operate the machine replace all ROPS
components that are damaged.
See your dealer for replaceable components.
IMPORTANT:
Do not try to weld or straighten the ROPS.

SEAT BELT
The seat belts are an important part of your ROPS. You
must wear the seat belt at all times when you operate the
machine
Before you operate this machine always make sure that
the ROPS and operators seat belts are correctly installed.
Inspection and Maintenance
1. Keep sharp edges and items that can cause
damage away from the belts.
2. From time to time, check belts, buckles, retractors,
tethers, slack take-up system and mounting bolts for
damage.
3. Check the seat belts for damage. Replace all parts
that are damaged.
4. Replace belts that have cuts that can make the belt
weak.
5. Make sure the mounting bolts for the seat belts are
tight.
6. Keep the seat belts clean and dry.
7. Keep the seat belts clean. Wash the seat belts only
in soap and water.
DO NOT put the seat belts in bleach or dye. This
procedure will weaken the seat belt material.
FIRE EXTINGUISHER
Type of Fire Extinguisher
It is recommended that you have a fire extinguisher on
your machine. The fire extinguisher of the type shown is
available from your dealer and can be installed on the
machine.
Contact your Astec Dealer for proper installation.
WARNING:
Securely fasten your seat belt. Your
machine is equipped with a ROPS cab, ROPS
canopy or ROPS frame for your protection. The
seat belt can help insure your safety if it is used
and maintained. Never wear a seat belt loosely or
with slack in the belt system. Never wear the belt
in a twisted condition or pinched between the
seat structural members.
