System start-up by Autronica employees
The sound system must be prepared according to the instructions above. Before the team responsible for VAS system start-up
arrives, contact Autronica with information that “system is completed and ready for start-up” along with start-up date. Makesure
the technicians have access to the room intended for VAS cabinets, reduce the number of third parties at the time when the
system is installed. It is strictly forbidden to perform any works in the VAS assembly room by personnel unauthorized to install
VAS cabinet. Once the system has been started, conduct a training related to system operation for sta responsible for proper
system use, and prepare relevant protocols.
Speech comprehensibility testing
Pursuant to provisions of EN 60849 norm, each Voice Alarm System (VAS) installation must be followed by speech comprehensi-
bility tests. These tests aim to conrm that the installed sound devices are able to produce a suitable acoustic power which allows
obtaining a required sound pressure level (SPL), as well as a high degree of RASTI speech comprehensibility – in accordance
with assumptions in the specication. The tests must be performed on a system operating in alarm mode and without the use
ofdynamic range compressors.
The scheduled system test must be arranged with sta responsible for administration of the building and Autronica employee.
Make sure to provide access to rooms in which tests are supposed to be carried out (as a rule – all rooms in the building).
Please notify personnel staying in the building (i.e. plant administrator) that tests will involve unpleasant and noisy signals
emitted by loudspeakers.
