What’s New in this Release
New material in this issue to support Release 6.0.1, SP1 software includes the following
features and functionality that apply only to the 9608, 9611G, 9621G, and 9641G SIP
Deskphones:
Mute Alert - An audible or visual alert occurs when a user speaks with the phone muted;
applies to the 9621G and 9641G models only.
Korean Language Support - Korean language fonts can now be administered for the
on-screen displays.
Presence - Presence is the ability for the user to send their availability status to others and to
track the availability status of a set of contacts known as Buddies. Presence can be tracked for
phone, and email status and is displayed in a list on the phone interface.
New System Configuration Parameters - Link to the following new system parameters, which
have been added to

PRESENCE_SERVER - This specifies the IP address of the presence server If it is
different than the address of the SIP proxy/registrar.
●
ENABLE_AUTOMATIC_ON_THE_PHONE_PRESENCE - This parameter controls
whether "on the phone" presence status is sent out automatically when user whose
presence is tracked is on a call (or goes off-hook). This is enabled by default.
Issue 7 This is the previous version of this document, revised and issued in October, 2010 to
support 9600 Series IP Deskphone Software Release 6.0 for four new deskphone
models: 9608, 9611G, 9621G, and 9641G. Release 6.0 was numbered to be compatible
with Release 6.0 of Avaya Aura
®
Communication Manager and Release 6.0 of Avaya
Aura
®
System Manager.
Note that for 9600 Series SIP Deskphones other than the new 9608, 9611G, 9621G, and
9641G models, Software Release 2.6, issued in June, 2010 still applies.
Issue 1 This is the current version of this document, revised and issued in April, 2011 to support
9600 Series IP Deskphone Software Release 6.0.1, SP1, for the deskphone models:
9608, 9611G, 9621G, and 9641G. To separate these phones from previous Issues, this
document has been renumbered as 16-603813, Issue 1. What’s New in this Releas

describes Release 6.0.1, SP1 in more detail.
Note that for 9600 Series SIP Deskphones other than the new 9608, 9611G, 9621G, and
9641G models, Software Release 2.6, issued in June, 2010 still applies.
