Issue 1 May 2011 25
Deskphone Initialization Process Overview
These steps offer a high-level description of the information exchanged when the deskphone
initializes and registers. This description assumes that all equipment is properly administered
ahead of time. The Avaya one-X™ Deskphone SIP Installation and Maintenance Guide for
9608, 9611G, 9621G, and 9641G Deskphones (Document Number 16-603604) provides a
detailed description of initialization (power-up and reset).
Step 1: Accessing the network
The deskphone is appropriately installed and powered. After a short initialization process, the
deskphone displays the speed at which it is connected to the network and determines whether
to initiate 802.1X network access procedures.
